I'm a manager at a fast food restaurant, and when I tell you that I've seen and heard some of the dumbest things you could ever imagine, believe me, it's true. Dealing with customers on a daily basis is a special kind of job, and you have to be a special kind of person to do it. If you've ever worked in fast food before, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Hell, you probably have better stories than I do. If you've never worked in fast food, please make sure that you don't find yourself in the situations I'm about to mention. If any of these situations sound familiar to you, just know that we do laugh at you long after you've left the building.
A customer was ordering in the drive-thru and the order-taker asked him if he wanted cheese on his burger. He didn't seem to understand her after a couple of attempts so I intervened and repeated the question. "Sir, would you like cheese on your burger?" This man proceeds to tell us that he is hard of hearing and doesn't understand what we are asking him. So, you're hard of hearing and thought that coming through the drive-thru would be the best option?
I had a customer call the store because she had an issue with her order from earlier that afternoon. She stated that she had ordered a burger, but was unaware that the burger came with beef. She doesn't eat beef. Mind you, I work at a BURGER restaurant that specializes in BEEF BURGERS. If your food item has BURGER in the name, it's most likely going to come with a BURGER patty.
Customer: "May I have a cheeseburger with no pickles?"
Cashier: "Would you like to make that a combo today?"
Cu: "No thanks. Just the burger. But can I also add a medium fry and a large drink?"
I could save you money by making it a combo as I suggested in the beginning, but since you chose to be an idiot, I'll let you pay the extra money.
I'm pretty sure this post will have multiple parts because you just never know what the work day has in store. If you liked this post and would like to see more, let me know. Now I want to hear from you! Do you work in fast food, retail, or any other customer service job? Let me know in the comments the craziest thing a customer has ever said or done at your job.
